Kathi H. Was Overwhelmed With Her Timeshare Maintenance Fees

Kathi H. purchased her timeshare in the 1990’s when she thought she would be able to visit all the places she dreamed of. After several decades of bad experiences with the property and her maintenance fees constantly rising, she was ready to get out. Below is a written account from Kathi on her personal experience with the timeshare industry and how she eventually was able to liberate herself from it.

“I am retired now, but in the 90’s I was encouraged to buy a timeshare to fulfill my dreams of traveling and seeing the world. I grew up on a farm in a small town and rarely even traveled out of my own state. I think everyone would like the chance to visit places they’ve dreamed about, and the timeshare salespeople used my own excitement against me. They were playing me the whole time and broke me down to the point where I felt like I was forced to agree with them.”

Kathi’s life was going well up to this point, and those timeshare salespeople did everything they possibly could to bring turmoil into her world. These salespeople will take your weakness and use it against you to get a sale, just as they did here to this small-town woman who had aspirations of traveling the globe.

“Turned out that the timeshare was no help to me seeing the rest of the world, because I could rarely ever use it. They never told me how difficult it would be to book a trip or how limited the availability would always be. They also never told me that the maintenance fees would be going up every year and now that I’m retired, it is very difficult to keep up with the expense of it.”

Maintenance fees are one of the most common problems timeshare owners have with their properties. Many times, the salespeople do not even mention these fees during the sales pitch, or if they do mention them, they do not inform the buyers that they will increase them every year.

“I was looking for a way out of my timeshare for years before I came across an ad for Wesley Financial Group. Working with them was great, and I was so relieved to hear that my timeshare was canceled. I don’t have to worry about those maintenance fees anymore!”

Once she reached out to us, we were able to quickly help in terminating her timeshare agreement and relieve her of any future financial obligations with the property.* We asked Kathi what her plans were for the future now that she is no longer tied down by a timeshare. She replied, “the sky is the limit!”
