Sal & Alfred's Timeshare Experience Was Not What They Were Told It Would Be

Client: Sal and Alfred B.

Below is a word for word account of the timeshare nightmare that Sal and Alfred B. experienced. We hope their written account will shed some light on the tactics that the timeshare industry often uses on good, unsuspecting people like them. Names of people have been changed and/or redacted for privacy reasons.

Sal and Alfred's Client Story

“Our experiences with the timeshare have not been how it was described by the sales representatives in our initial presentation. The sales reps did not give us time to look over the contract and rushed us through the signing. We were not told all of the details of the contract. We were pressured and lied to during the whole sales process.

Our experience has been nowhere near what we were told and it has not been easy to book trips as we were told. We have tried on multiple occasions to book with no success. This has put an unexpected strain on us. We have been duped and scammed out of our money.

When we got the timeshare we were told that we could share some promotional vacation packages with friends and family. For every vacation, we were told we would get money from that promotion sale. During the timeshare sales presentation they never stated that the family or friends would have to fit a certain criteria. We had no idea they would have to answer personal questions, like their marital status, their income, etc.

A friend of ours went through the process and took a trip. He had to attend a timeshare meeting, which was also not something we were aware of. When our friend was at the meeting he said another lady who was there answered one of the questions “incorrectly”. Apparently, they have a print out of the questions you were asked before being allowed to purchase the trip with the promotion. This woman was removed from the meeting and was told she would have to pay full price ($300/night) for her stay.

Our friend continued with the meeting, and went on a tour of the property. He was told a timeshare purchase would be a great investment, would make him money and pay for itself.  After finishing the tour, he told them he wasn’t interested. The timeshare reps then told him he wouldn’t be allowed to purchase another vacation with the promotions our family offered to him. We don’t think that is right. So we felt like we were promoting lies, and we don’t want to be part of anything like that. These people are our family and friends we were sharing the promotions with, and that is not the way to treat them.”

Unfortunately, these types of situations happen too frequently during the timeshare sales process. Many people think they are getting one thing, and when they get home and get ready to use their timeshare, or in this case, share the timeshare with friends and family, their plans don’t pan out.

If you were lied to or misled like Sal and Alfred, we may be able to help you. We are assisting them with the cancellation of their timeshare right now. Call us today to see if you qualify for our timeshare cancellation services too.
